Terms of Use
Effective October 16, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Logan West (“we”) for your use of the Leeway app and this website. By creating an account or using Leeway, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy.
The service
Leeway is new and still growing. Features may change, be interrupted or be removed. The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows.
Not financial advice
Leeway is a budgeting tool. Its numbers, including Free to Spend, are estimates based on the budget you set, the purchases your bank reports and the choices you make. Bank data can be late, pending or incomplete. Leeway is not financial, tax, legal or investment advice; your bank and card statements are the official record.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 to use Leeway. If you are under 18, you need a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
- Use an email address you control, and keep your phone and email secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- Connect only bank accounts you are allowed to access, and use Leeway lawfully and for your own personal use.
- Don’t misuse the service: no trying to reach other people’s data, disrupt the service, or copy or reverse engineer it except where the law allows.
Bank connections
Bank connections are provided by Plaid. By connecting a bank you also agree to Plaid’s terms, and Plaid handles your bank data under the Plaid End User Privacy Policy. Connections are read-only: Leeway cannot move money. We aren’t responsible for your bank’s or Plaid’s services, availability or data accuracy.
Plans and payments
Your first tracked trip is free. Live tracking for later trips is offered as a Trip Pass (one trip) or an Annual plan, sold through Apple In-App Purchase. We may offer plans free for a time; when charging starts, the price and what you get are shown in the app before you buy.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase.
- The Annual plan renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for the next period within 24 hours before it begins.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
Our content and yours
Leeway, its design and its content belong to us. We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by Apple’s Usage Rules. Your trips and the information you add stay yours; you let us store and process them only to run Leeway for you.
Ending your use
You can stop using Leeway and delete your account anytime in the app (Profile → Delete my account). We may suspend or end access if you break these terms or to protect the service or other users, and we may stop offering Leeway, with notice where we reasonably can. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as disclaimers and limits of liability) still apply.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for spending or financial decisions made using Leeway. Our total liability for any claim related to Leeway is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $50. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
Apple
If you got Leeway from the App Store, these terms also say:
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for any claims about the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, consumer protection, and claims that the app infringes someone else’s intellectual property.
- You confirm you are not in a country under a US government embargo or designated as “terrorist supporting”, and are not on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must also follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app, such as your mobile carrier’s.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Utah, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them elsewhere. Before going to court, please contact us so we can try to solve it.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Leeway after that means you accept the new terms.
